St. Peter the Apostle Church
|
| St. Peter the Apostle Roman
Catholic Church is located on the corner of Fourth and Oak Streets in
Oakland. Our church, under the patronage of St. Peter the Apostle, was
dedicated on June 29, 1852. This was the first church of
any denomination actually within the town limits of Oakland. On
April 21, 1901, an architect was engaged to prepare specifications for
the beautiful stone church with the impressive steeple that stands
today. Work on the church began on April 26, 1901. The church was first
used on Sunday, February 15, 1903, and the dedication took place on
Sunday, September 6, 1903. |
