St. Peter the Apostle Church

St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church is located on the corner of Fourth and Oak Streets in Oakland. Our church, under the patronage of St. Peter the Apostle, was dedicated on June 29, 1852.  This was the first church of any denomination actually within the town limits of Oakland.  On April 21, 1901, an architect was engaged to prepare specifications for the beautiful stone church with the impressive steeple that stands today. Work on the church began on April 26, 1901. The church was first used on Sunday, February 15, 1903, and the dedication took place on Sunday, September 6, 1903.

St. Peter at the Lake Center

Mass has been held at various locations at Deep Creek Lake since 1992.  In April of 2001 the Church purchased 14.5 acres of land along Mosser Road at McHenry, Maryland, in order to construct its Lake Center building.  The first mass was held at St. Peter at the Lake Center on May 23, 2009.  The Blessing Mass was held on June 28, 2009.
