Stewardship is Valued!

Tithing of the Time, Talent, and Treasure of each parishioner is necessary to accomplish our mission.

This section contains various information about the ministries, organizations, and committees within St. Peter Parish.  These groups are always looking for new volunteers and enthusiastic people interested in dedicating their valuable time to help Saint Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church run efficiently.

Religious Education (CCD)

Contact:  Betty Eaton - 301-334-2202

The most widely attended of all our programs, the Religious Education segment deals with the catechesis and faith formation of our young people.  Classes are offered from K-12.  We work with texts and/or workbooks and use a variety of creative projects to share the story of our faith, learn the history of our church, and devote ourselves to living the message of Jesus.  Involvement of parents is very important.  We need catechists, aides, and substitutes and can offer a variety of training options.  We also need support for our events, and we always need your prayers.

Religious Education is held every Sunday morning in the lower level of the Parish Center.  Follow this link for the Religious Education Registration Form.  If you would like to volunteer or need further information, please contact Betty Eaton at 301-334-2202 or by e-mail at spassociate@verizon.net.

Catechists and Substitute Catechists

Contact:  Betty Eaton - 301-334-2202

Catechists are religious education teachers who must fulfill parish and Archdiocesan continuing education requirements.  Substitute catechists fill in for the regular catechist.

Sacramental Preparation

Contact:  Betty Eaton - 301-334-2202

Closely tied to the Religious Education schedule, we prepare children for First Communion and First Reconciliation at the 2nd grade and higher level, and Confirmation in Grades 8 & 9.  School-aged children who want to be baptized or older children who want to receive Communion can join our RCIC for children program.  Parents and godparents are actively involved in this program.  If you are interested in a shorter commitment time, then maybe becoming a catechist in this RCIC program will interest you.

These couples help engaged couples prepare for the sacrament of matrimony by sharing with them their own marriage experiences.
